Roch Thériault was born into a devout French-Canadian Catholic family in Saguenay, Quebec, on May 16, 1947.
He reportedly had a difficult childhood, marked by an authoritarian father and a strict religious environment.
Thériault dropped out of school at an early age. He developed a deep fascination with the Old Testament and became obsessed with religious prophecies and apocalyptic beliefs.
